NFL draft trade ideas for every pick
The Saints originally added a gold jersey into their uniform rotation in 2002. This new alternate is close to the same shade of gold and black that matches one of the helmets they use.
One person who will be ecstatic about the new look is Cameron Jordan. The Saints legend has been advocating for the franchise to bring back the gold jerseys since at least 2020.
The Saints haven't worn that jersey since a December 2002 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. They will hope that updating the gold jersey brings better luck in 2025 and beyond.
With the reintroduction of the gold jerseys, the Saints could have as many as eight different uniform combinations to use this season. Their primary jerseys are the black (home games) and white tops (road games) with gold and black or white and black pants.
The Saints also used multiple color rush jerseys, including the gold on white look, with one of two helmets last season. This season could potentially see them use the gold jersey and white helmets for certain games.
After the NFL updated its uniform policy in April, teams are now permitted to use their throwback or alternate jerseys up to four times during the season.
The Saints have not yet announced when they will debut the new gold jersey. They will open the regular season at home against the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 7.
