Fantasy Football 2025 Early Sleepers, Dynasty Tips and Team Names
The NFL world is waking up.
Training camps are up and running, position battles are starting to play out and preseason action will kick off sooner than you think.
For fantasy football enthusiasts, this is the most wonderful time of the year. There's draft preparation to be done, sleepers to spot before any of your leaguemates can and team names to be crafted.
We're here to help on all fronts, so let's get to it.
Fantasy Sleepers for 2025

QB: J.J. McCarthy, Minnesota Vikings
Knee surgeries wiped out McCarthy's rookie season, but he could come back producing as if he's making up for lost time. Coach Kevin O'Connell runs a quarterback-friendly system, plus McCarthy has electric playmakers in the passing game like Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson. The same environment that just propelled Sam Darnold to a 4,319-yard, 35-touchdown season could now put McCarthy on the breakout path.
RB: Jaydon Blue, Dallas Cowboys
Blue, a fifth-round pick, flashed legitimate three-down ability at Texas, and there's a non-zero chance he winds up winning a featured role in this revamped backfield. Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders both disappointed this past season, Deuce Vaughn's 5'6", 176-pound frame will limit his usage. Blue, who had 1,098 scrimmage yards and 14 touchdowns last season, could be the third-down back right away with a chance to become so much more.
WR: DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh Steelers
Metcalf's offseason move from Seattle to Pittsburgh could be a fantasy jackpot. Aaron Rodgers is an upgrade over Geno Smith. And with George Pickens sent packing, Metcalf is the clear No. 1 in this aerial attack. His burst gives him obvious home-run potential on every play, but the likely rise in usage volume is what could really skyrocket his ceiling.
Dynasty Tips

Never lose sight of the big picture.
A dynasty team is one you'll carry from year to year, and you must always keep that in mind when weighing roster moves. Research is rewarded in this format more than any. Sniffing out a young sleeper before everyone else catches up could one day prove to be the ultimate advantage for your team.
This doesn't mean you have to load up solely on young players, but you should have a clear focus for your timeline and an understanding of what that will mean. If you're fully focused on the present, then you have to be aware that future costs are coming. Similarly, if you're playing the long game and betting big on long-term potential, don't panic when you take some inevitable lumps at the start of this process.
You can still deviate from your strategy to find value.
While you can (and should) have a plan in mind for your draft, you shouldn't treat it like scripture. Every draft room is different, so average draft positions could go out the window when league managers start making some wild-card moves around you.
In other words, things won't go exactly as you expect, and that's OK. Your draft plan might be a general guide, but it probably can't account for everyone else leaving certain positions or player types (be that win-right-now veterans or unproven rookies) untouched longer than they should. Grab the talent and value where you can, and remember you always have the trade market to help make the necessary adjustments after the fact.
Find your cornerstone quarterback.
While redraft leagues often treat fantasy quarterbacks as if they're all interchangeable, dynasty drafters should know better than that. High-profile rookies at the position are anything but guaranteed to pan out. If you happen to nab an elite one, though, that can be the gift that keeps giving year after year.
Running backs typically flame out in relatively short order. Receivers, on the other hand, often need some time to get adjusted. Quarterbacks, though, typically offer the longest peaks among skill positions. You can realistically add a great one now and potentially still have them around in a decade. It's hard to overstate the importance of that consistent, reliable excellence in this format.
