Packers, Zach Tom Reportedly Reach $88M Contract, $30.2M Bonus Sets NFL Record for OL
Zach Tom is staying with the Green Bay Packers for the foreseeable future and will reportedly be paid a record amount of money up front in the process.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Monday that Green Bay and offensive tackle Zach Tom agreed to a four-year, $88 million contract extension that can be worth as much as $92 million. The deal also features a $30.2 million signing bonus, which sets a record for the highest signing bonus for an offensive lineman in league history.
It has been quite the week for record contracts and offensive linemen, as the Kansas City Chiefs and Trey Smith also agreed to a four-year, $94 million contract that made him the highest-paid offensive guard in NFL history.

Tom is the latest major contract, further underscoring how much value NFL teams place on protecting their franchise quarterbacks such as Patrick Mahomes and Jordan Love.
Green Bay selected the Wake Forest product with a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, and he has started all 17 games in each of the last two regular seasons. He also appeared in three playoff games during that span as one of the leaders up front.
The 2025 campaign was set to be the final one on his rookie deal, and he will make $3.4 million in base salary.
This new extension will be quite the jump in salary, and the signing bonus alone will be far more than he made over the course of his entire first contract in the NFL.
From Green Bay's perspective, this move was an obvious one. After all, Tom is just 26 years old and already one of the best offensive tackles in the NFL. He has also proven to be durable the past two seasons and figures to be a key part of its offense for years to come.
Pro Football Focus gave him an overall player grade of 87.5 during the 2024 season, which was fourth among 140 offensive tackles.
If he can continue producing like that, the contract will be well worth it.
