Braves Reportedly Will Listen to Ozzie Albies Trade Offers, Astros Linked amid Rumors
The Atlanta Braves reportedly could be open to the possibility of trading one of their homegrown stars.
According to The Athletic's Jim Bowden, while the Braves "are not looking to move on from" veteran second baseman Ozzie Albies, they will still "listen to inquiries" leading up to the July 31 trade deadline.
Albies has spent his entire MLB career in Atlanta since making his debut in 2017. He was a member of the team's 2021 World Series championship squad, and he's earned two Silver Slugger Awards and three All-Star selections.
In 2025, Albies has struggled a bit at the plate with a career-low batting average of .221 while adding nine home runs and 38 RBI. Despite his slight decline, he still could be an attractive trade candidate.
Bowden noted that the Houston Astros "are looking for a left-handed-hitting second baseman" and "would be a strong trade fit."
At 43-55, the Braves appear unlikely to contend for a playoff spot this year, so their best course could be to ship away aging veterans to prepare for the future.
