Bengals Owner Thinks Trey Hendrickson Contract Will Get Done Amid Holdout, Rumors

Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown believes that the team will be able give star defensive end Trey Hendrickson a new contract extension.

“I think it’ll get done," Brown said, per ESPN's Ben Baby.

Bengals director of player personnel Duke Tobin also thought that Hendrickson has done enough to warrant an extension.

“He’s an important part of our team. ... He's a guy who has been very valuable," Tobin said, via NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "He has earned a raise and extension. We'll see if we can come together on something.”

Hendrickson previously skipped Cincinnati's mandatory minicamp in June while waiting for a long-term deal.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported in June that the two sides were "not any closer to a deal," but it appears as though contract negotiations are now gaining traction.

On Monday, Rapoport revealed that Cincinnati has made multiple offers to Hendrickson.

"The Bengals have made several offers, including a recent one over the course of the last couple of days," Rapoport reported during an appearance on Good Morning Football (h/t Shelby Dermer of the Cincinnati Enquirer).

Hendrickson is set to carry a base salary of $15.8 million for the 2025 season before he's slated to hit free agency in 2026.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has publicly called for the four-time Pro Bowler to get paid.

Hendrickson has steadily blossomed into one of the NFL's top pass-rushers, racking up 57 sacks across four years in Cincinnati. He's coming off a 2024 campaign in which he amassed a league-leading 17.5 sacks to go along with 54 pressures, 36 quarterback hits, 19 tackles for loss and six passes defensed.

The Bengals have already agreed to long-term extensions with two key players during the offseason, handing wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins four-year contracts worth $161 million and $115 million respectively.

Cincinnati is likely attempting to sign Hendrickson to an extension before veterans are set to report for training camp on Tuesday.
