Cowboys' Tyler Smith Says Winning Super Bowl Is 'Realistic Goal' for 2025 NFL Season

Dallas Cowboys guard Tyler Smith is setting the bar high for the team, just one year removed from a 7-10 season that kept them out of the playoffs.

His expectations for the 2025 season? Not just a winning record—a Super Bowl.

“Super Bowl champions… That’s always the expectation,” Smith said, according to ESPN’s Todd Archer. “I think it’s a realistic goal, yeah.”

Despite limited offseason moves and returning the same quarterback, wide receivers, tight end and most of the defensive unit, Smith’s reasoning is rock solid.

“Because we can win a Super Bowl. Why not? Why can’t we win?” Smith said, per Archer. “Do you think it’s unrealistic?”

"I think we built a great core on offense, the addition of George and all the other key pieces," Smith continued, per Archer. "I think drafting [guard Tyler] Booker [in the first round], he's going to be a helluva guy just to bolster the front line. And we have many guys across the board, but those are some of the guys who are the key pieces on what we do this year."

Of course, Dallas will need Dak Prescott to stay on the field to fully realize its potential. After being limited to just eight games last season, Prescott told reporters earlier this month that he's "as healthy as I'll be."

The Cowboys made the playoffs each season from 2021 to 2023, finishing 12-5 in three straight seasons but falling in two wild-card games and one divisional round.

They have not played in a Super Bowl since 1995—when they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers to win their third title in four seasons—and have since faced a Super Bowl drought.

Now, under rookie head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who took over for Mike McCarthy after five seasons, the team will look to end its playoff woes.
