What Scottie Scheffler Needs to Win to Complete Career Grand Slam After British Open
Scottie Scheffler moved one step closer to achieving the career Grand Slam following his victory at the 2025 British Open on Sunday.
Scheffler just needs to win the U.S. Open in order to accomplish the feat.
He'll be looking to become the seventh golfer ever to win all four majors and join Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. The last player to record a career Grand Slam was McIlroy, who did so following his Masters triumph in April.
As for Scheffler, he previously won the Masters in 2022 and 2024 before securing a victory at the PGA Championship in May.
He was dominant throughout his fourth major win, finishing 17-under 267 at Royal Portrush. Scheffler recorded at least five birdies during three of the four rounds in the Open.
“I grew up waking up early to watch this tournament on TV, just hoping and dreaming I’d get a chance to come play in this championship,” Scheffler told Sky Sports afterward, via Gabby Herzig of The Athletic. “It’s pretty cool to be sitting here with the trophy. It’s hard to put it into words.”
While the 29-year-old will be celebrating his latest major, he'll also be looking ahead to the 2026 U.S. Open.
