The reworked agreement doesn't add any time to the contract, meaning he can still become a free agent after the 2026 season.
Mayfield arrived in Tampa after signing a one-year, $4 million prove-it deal ahead of the 2023 campaign.
He more than lived up to that contract during his age-28 season by leading the Bucs to a 9-8 record and setting a new career high with 4,044 passing yards and 28 touchdowns to 10 interceptions.
Mayfield re-signed ahead of the 2024 campaign on a three-year, $100 million deal with $50 million in guaranteed money.
He went on to power the Bucs to a 10-7 record with another personal-best season, recording 4,500 passing yards and 41 touchdowns while committing 16 interceptions.
The Buccaneers restructured his contract ahead of the 2025 season by converting $30 million of his base salary into a a roster bonus in order to lower his cap hit, according to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson.
Tampa has already locked in other star players, including All-Pro tackle Tristan Wirfs and star safety Antoine Winfield Jr. for the next few seasons.
The team also placed a vote of confidence behind coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht by signing both to multiyear extensions in June.
After locking in both star players and the front office, the Bucs will look to build on four straight division titles by contending for Super Bowl in the near future.
Mayfield, who turned 30 in April, is heading into his eighth NFL season. The top pick of the 2018 draft played three and a half seasons with the Cleveland Browns, then split the 2022 campaign between the Carolina Panthers and the Los Angeles Rams before reviving his career in Tampa.
