Paul Heyman Talks WWE 2K25 on Switch 2, Rollins, Reigns, Breakker in B/R Interview
In anticipation of WWE 2K25's release on the brand-new Nintendo Switch 2 console on July 23, WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman spoke with Bleacher Report this week to discuss the video game, as well as his recent work with Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, and his history with Roman Reigns.
WWE 2K25 initially released back in March on multiple consoles, including the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A special Bloodline Edition of the game was among the releases, featuring Reigns, Heyman and several other members of The Bloodline and the Anoa'i family on the cover.
Heyman took credit for the game's continued success, citing his status as a cover star an narrator:

"As you know, it's the highest-rated game in franchise history, and rightfully so. And that ties into the second point, which is I hosted the game. And besides being on the cover with Roman Reigns and elevating Roman Reigns' star power on the cover of the game, just the fact that I hosted the entire game—which has never been done before—which led to the greatest reviews in franchise history, if not in all video game history, I think it says a lot about Paul Heyman's contributions to this game, the longevity of the game and why months after its release, it's still a headline-grabbing video game. Especially now that it's moving onto Nintendo Switch 2."
When WWE 2K25 first hit the market, Reigns and Heyman were seemingly still a tightly knit unit, even after Reigns dropped the WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40.
That changed in the main event of Night 1 of WrestleMania 41 when Heyman shockingly turned his back on both Reigns and CM Punk, and aligned himself with Rollins, which allowed The Visionary to pick up the victory.
Heyman noted that the beauty of WWE 2K25 is that fans and gamers can now place Reigns and Heyman on opposing sides rather than adhering to the past:
"I would suggest that this video game accurately captures the relationship between The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns and his Wiseman Paul Heyman when the relationship was at its height. Even though Roman Reigns had lost the undisputed championship by the time we did this video game, the presentation of Roman Reigns and his Wiseman was still running very, very strong.
"What I love about the game now is that you're not stuck with Paul Heyman being at the side of Roman Reigns. You can put Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns, you can put Bronson Reed vs. Roman Reigns, you can put Bron Breakker vs. Roman Reigns. You can even have Paul Heyman come and smash Roman Reigns, which I think would be a fitting end to the relationship as well."
Heyman and Reigns were together for nearly five years, which included the entirety of Reigns' historic, 1,316-day run as world champion.
That changed at WrestleMania 41 when Heyman joined forces with Rollins, and they have since added Breakker and Reed to their group as well.
When asked to explain the thought process behind making such a significant change in his career, Heyman blamed Reigns and Punk for pushing him away, while also describing his excitement to work with Rollins, Breakker and Reed:
"If you look at a trajectory for the future of this entire industry, it's Seth Rollins' time. As a lawyer would say, Seth Rollins made the case. CM Punk declares himself to be my best friend and put me in a situation that guaranteed would sabotage my relationship with my Tribal Chief Roman Reigns. And then there's my Tribal Chief Roman Reigns, whose side I stood by through thick and thin, who wouldn't accept the fact that I was going to simply enable my best friend in the world to live out his childhood dream of main eventing WrestleMania. So I think Roman Reigns and CM Punk both put themselves in position to be abandoned by their Wiseman.
"And Seth Rollins made the case for being the most appreciative Superstar in WWE history, and along with that it allowed me to recruit Bron Breakker, whose name I mentioned during my Hall of Fame speech a year earlier as the next big star, if not to quote my time with Brock Lesnar, the next big thing in this entire industry. Then you have the addition of Bronson Reed, who was an under-utilized and under-appreciated monster on the roster. You put us all together and I dare say it eclipses The Bloodline."
Early returns on Heyman's alliance with Rollins were spectacular, as The Visionary won the men's Money in the Bank ladder match last month, earning him a guaranteed world title match at a time and place of his choosing.
Rollins held the fate of WWE's main event scene in the palm of his hand, but everything may have come crashing down at Saturday Night's Main Event when Rollins injured his knee during a match against LA Knight.
Rumors and speculation have run rampant regarding the true severity of the injury, but Rollins said during an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show that based on his past experience with knee injuries, he believes he will be "out for an extended period of time."
Even so, Heyman made it clear that he isn't concerned. The Oracle expressed great confidence that Rollins will be back at some point within the next 11 months to cash in his Money in the Bank contract, and he feels the uncertainty of when Rollins will return adds even more excitement to the product:
"I would actually suggest that this adds a level of intrigue to WWE because there is nothing, at least to me, as exciting as anticipation. The anticipation now is the clock is ticking and the race is on because Seth Rollins has until next June to cash in the Money in the Bank contract. That's a long time to go. I'm absolutely 100 percent confident to the point where I can say it's not just a prediction, it's a spoiler. I would even go as far now that I'm an oracle to say it's not just a prediction or a spoiler, it's a prophecy that Seth Rollins will be back by next June no matter what. If his leg fell off, he'd be back by next June to cash in the Money in the Bank contract.
"So, I'm not worried about it. I'm just enjoying the anticipation of when he can come back, and when he does, how it will completely change the dynamic of WWE, Raw, SmackDown, NXT, LFG, Evolve. The entire industry will change when Seth Rollins comes back, and even if it's on deadline next June, it will still be a complete shift of focus of the entire industry because that's what Seth Rollins' trajectory is."
Rollins did not appear on Monday night's episode of Raw, which allowed Breakker to step into the spotlight as a participant in a gauntlet match to determine Gunther's opponent for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.
While Breakker ultimately fell to Punk, he entered first, eliminated three top Superstars in Penta, Knight and Jey Uso, and showcased his immense potential in the process.
Despite having only been in the wrestling business since 2020, Breakker has long been heralded as a future world champion and WrestleMania main eventer, and the expectations grew even greater once he joined Rollins and Heyman.
Heyman compared Breakker to many of the other legendary performers he has worked with over the years and suggested that the son of Rick Steiner and nephew of Scott Steiner has all the tools needed to reach their level:
"Bron Breakker can elevate himself to that rarefied air. I worked with Mark Calaway before he was The Undertaker and always knew he was going to be a top star with great longevity. I worked with Steve Austin before he was Stone Cold. I worked with Brock Lesnar when he was the next big thing and then the next big thing had arrived and conquered The Undertaker's undefeated streak and was a multi-time champion and UFC heavyweight champion. I worked with CM Punk in the midst of his 434 days as WWE champion. The five years that Roman Reigns and I worked together on camera, let alone all the time that we worked with each other behind the scenes. These are very rare athletes, these are very rare performers. The thousands of other performers in the industry can't breathe the rarefied air that these gentlemen get a chance to enjoy because they are that uniquely talented.
"Bron Breakker is in that group. Now, it's up to Bron Breakker to separate himself from that group, to take the industry even higher, to accomplish more than they have, to draw more revenue, drive the stock higher, bring more viewers over to Netflix, sell more video games and other related merchandise and licenses. If Bron Breakker can do that, and I have every reason to believe that he can and that he will, you're looking at the man that's going to main event multi WrestleManias past WrestleMania 50. He is exactly where Roman Reigns was when The Shield debuted. He is looked at by the audience as the muscle of the group when the fact of the matter is Bron Breakker is the biggest star in this industry. The industry just hasn't figured that out yet."
After Punk became the No. 1 contender for the world heavyweight title on Raw, chaos broke out with Breakker and Reed attacking both Punk and Uso.
At that point, the arena became unglued when Reigns made his long-awaited return to WWE programming after missing nearly three months of action due to a spear through the barricade by Breakker.
Reigns took the fight to Breakker and Reed, running them off and potentially setting the stage for a huge match at SummerSlam next month.
It appears a tag team match pitting Reigns and Uso against Breakker and Reed could be in the cards for SummerSlam, but Reigns vs. Breakker in a singles match at some point is an inevitability, and Heyman believes it could be one of the biggest bouts in pro wrestling history when it comes to fruition:
"I think Roman Reigns vs. Bron Breakker will set box office records around the world. I think Roman Reigns vs. Bronson Reed will set box office records around the world. I think Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins when Seth Rollins comes back from his leg injury will set box office records around the world. It's just, who's going to be up first? Can Roman Reigns survive that match? If Bron Breakker is first, will Roman Reigns survive that to actually have a match vs. Bronson Reed?
"I'd rather look back on it than looking forward to it because looking forward to it, I already see it because that's what an oracle does. I think if you look back on this in the future, you will see that Roman Reigns vs. Bron Breakker is a historic match because Bron Breakker teaches Roman Reigns how to deliver a proper spear."
Those could prove to be fighting words from Heyman, although it is understandable why he feels secure with Breakker and Reed doing his bidding.
Reigns is undoubtedly out for revenge, though, after what happened to him at WrestleMania 41 and on the ensuing episode of Raw, making Heyman a potential target for a spear or Superman punch if Breakker and Reed aren't able to insulate him.
Should that happen at SummerSlam at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Aug. 2 and 3, and it figures to elicit the biggest crowd response of the entire event.
