Wait too long, though, and these preparations will become cram sessions, so let's get right to it with rankings, a five-round mock draft and a look at our top sleeper, breakout and bust for the 2025 season.

The Sleeper, The Breakout and The Bust
3 of 3.jpg)
Sleeper: Jordan Mason, RB, Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings are clearly fans of Mason. As soon as they acquired him from the San Francisco 49ers—sending out a fifth-round pick and a sixth-round pick to land Mason and a sixth-round pick—they signed him to a two-year, $12 million contract with $7 million guaranteed.
He might already be looking up on the depth chart at only Aaron Jones Sr., a 30-year-old who just posted the fewest yards per touch of his career (5.1). If Mason winds up with an even halfway-significant role, he'll have a chance to produce. During the four games in which he tallied 15-plus touches this past season, he averaged 126 scrimmage yards and 0.8 touchdowns.
Breakout: Drake Maye, QB, New England Patriots
It took a little time for the Patriots to give Maye the keys to their offense, but once the switch was made, he never looked back. Despite playing in less than ideal conditions on an underwhelming New England offense, he consistently made things happen.
During seven games in which he attempted 30-plus passes, he averaged 246.9 passing yards and 1.7 passing touchdowns. More encouragingly, he also made plays with his legs, averaging another 41.9 yards on the ground in those contests. With his arrow pointing up and his supporting cast much improved this offseason (a beefed-up offensive line, a new offensive coordinator in Josh McDaniels, a new WR1 in Stefon Diggs and a new possible RB1 in rookie second-rounder TreVeyon Henderson), Maye could become the position's next fantasy star.
Bust: James Cook, RB, Buffalo Bills
While Cook is worth rostering at the proverbial right price, chances are he'll go way above that rate based on his seemingly unsustainable 2024 production. After delivering nine total touchdowns his first two seasons as a pro, he doubled that number in his third go-round alone with 18 scores.
That number feels almost certain to decline. Regression to the mean is an obvious threat, but the bigger worries are Josh Allen's continued usage in goal-line situations and a potentially expanded role for sophomore-to-be running back Ray Davis. If Cook isn't a touchdown machine, then he won't be worth the RB10-RB12 price tag he's likely to cost you.
