Puka Nacua Says Davante Adams Will 'Lead the Way' for Rams Offense During 2025 Season

Adam WellsJul 16, 2025

Despite Puka Nacua's emergence as one of the NFL's most reliable receivers in his first two seasons, the 24-year-old believes new addition Davante Adams will be the offensive focal point for the Los Angeles Rams in 2025.

Appearing on NFL Network's The Insiders (h/t Bobby Kownack of NFL.com), Nacua explained that Adams will "lead the way" for them this season:

"It's definitely gonna be different. Davante, as soon as he stepped into the facility has been fantastic. The ability to learn from another all-time great has been—I feel like I'm stealing—I'm like a kid in the candy store. I've had Matthew Stafford, Sean McVay, Cooper Kupp and now Davante Adams. My life is pretty good, I can't complain too much. It's gonna be fun. We signed Tutu (Atwell) back. We've got some speed, we got a bunch of young guys who are excited to play. (No.) 17 is gonna lead the way for us, and it's gonna be fantastic to be out there on the football field with him."

Adams' signing with the Rams in March was one of the most universally-praised moves any team made in free agency. He is effectively taking the spot vacated by Cooper Kupp, who was released early in the offseason.

If you put the production of Adams and Kupp from last season side-by-side, it's no contest who the better player was. Adams finished with 83 receptions, 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns in 14 games between the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets.

Kupp put up 710 yards and six touchdowns with 67 receptions. He has also missed 18 games over the past three seasons, compared to just three for Adams during that same period.

Pairing Adams and Nacua also opens things up for head coach Sean McVay. The Rams can line up one on the outside and the other in the slot, or pushing both outside the numbers to use Atwell inside.

The Rams are hoping Adams will be able to elevate the passing game that has been effective, but somewhat limited by virtue of having to rely so heavily on Nacua over the past two seasons.

Los Angeles pushed the Philadelphia Eagles to the limit in the NFC Divisional Round, losing a close 28-22 contest. It was the only game decided by one possession for the Eagles during their dominant playoff run.

Having an offensive nucleus of Nacua, Adams, Kyren Williams and Matthew Stafford with McVay coaching that unit could get the Rams over the hump in the postseason this year.
