Odell Beckham Jr. Celebrates Bitcoin Hitting All-Time High After 2021 Rams Contract

Joseph ZuckerJul 14, 2025

Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. might still be without a contract, but he continues to reap a healthy profit from a crypto investment coinciding with his 2021 move to the Los Angeles Rams.

The three-time Pro Bowler pointed to Bitcoin hitting an all-time high by trading at more than $120,000:

Beckham is personally invested in Bitcoin's fate because he converted his salary with the Rams into the cryptocurrency after landing in L.A. As a result, an original payout of $750,000 has nearly doubled in value.

This isn't the first time he has reveled in his gamble yielding healthy dividends:

The crypto market is no different from any other financial sector, where there are winners and losers.

Like Beckham, former NFL offensive tackle Russell Okung made a lot of money when turned a portion of his 2020 earnings into Bitcoin. A number of other current and former athletes weren't so fortunate when they lost sizable sums after crypto company FTX went bankrupt in 2022.

That's to say nothing of the athletes who pursued more traditional investment paths, only to lose some or most of their career earnings.

For now, Beckham's Bitcoin portfolio is pretty robust. In another few years, the outlook could be very different.
