NFL Coach Calls Patrick Mahomes 'A 1-Man Army... No NFL Coach Wants to Deal with Him'
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes remains a "one-man army" in the eyes of one NFL coordinator.
The 2024 season was one of Mahomes' worst by the raw numbers, and Kansas City was decisively beaten by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. Still, the coordinator pointed to how he elevated an offense with some glaring flaws.
"OL in decline, particularly at tackle, WR group completely cleaned out by injury, [Travis] Kelce not near the same player," the veteran NFL coordinator told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. "I thought he had more command of time/score/situation and better fundamentals from within the pocket than ever. He's a one-man army. And no NFL coach wants to deal with him. Complete dawg. No one like him. Maybe [Joe] Burrow, but Burrow isn't as dangerous as a player."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Mahomes threw for 3,928 yards, 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last year, while his 67.6 QBR was only good enough for eighth at ESPN.com.
To get an idea of his supporting cast, though, look no further than the fact that the 35-year-old Kelce was the team's leading receiver while averaging 8.5 yards per catch. Xavier Worthy was the only other Kansas City player with at least 500 receiving yards.
The Chiefs didn't have a rushing attack that could ease the burden on their star quarterback, either. They ranked 22nd in total yards (1,790) and 29th in yards per carry (4.0).
Still, Kansas City went 15-2 in the regular season and reached a third straight Super Bowl.
The offense hasn't undergone a lot of change at the skill positions. The Chiefs are banking on Worthy to take a step forward in Year 2, and having the pair of Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice for a full season will undoubtedly help.
As long as Mahomes stays healthy, everyone will expect the reigning AFC champs to mount another Super Bowl challenge.
