Jalen Hurts Ranked No. 9 QB in NFL by Execs, Coaches After Eagles' Super Bowl Win

Zach BacharJul 14, 2025

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was ranked as the No. 9 player at his position in the latest poll of NFL executives, coaches and scouts conducted by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Hurts, who helped the Eagles defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, was ranked as high as the No. 6 quarterback in the league by voters while others left him off their rankings entirely.

ESPN Quarterback Rankings

1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

2. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

3. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

4. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

5. Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders

6. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

7. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

8. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions

9. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

10. Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Hurts is coming off a 2024 campaign in which he wasn't tasked with a large role in Philadelphia's passing attack, but still remained efficient.

"He had a better year running the ball, and the way he played down the stretch when healthy was impressive," an AFC executive told Fowler. "Better throwing the ball in general this year and cut out the turnovers."

Hurts completed a career-high 68.7 percent of his throws for 2,903 yards and 18 touchdowns compared to a mere five interceptions, while his 103.7 passer rating also represented a new personal-best mark.

It's worth noting that he only attempted 361 passes, his lowest total since his rookie season that he only started four games in.

The Eagles leaned heavily on their rushing attack in 2024, as Saquon Barkley led the NFL in carries on his way to winning Offensive Player of the Year honors.

Hurts also contributed to Philadelphia's run game, picking up 630 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground.

The 26-year-old missed the Eagles' final two regular-season games after suffering a concussion, but looked sharp throughout their playoff run.

Hurts threw for 726 yards and five touchdowns in four postseason games, getting picked off once. He was named Super Bowl MVP following Philadelphia's 40-22 win over Kansas City.

If Hurts can put together another strong individual year and help the Eagles defend their Super Bowl title, he should rise further up the quarterback rankings.
