Jimmy Rollins Hits Hole-in-One on Video, Wins Boat at American Century Championship
Former MLB shortstop Jimmy Rollins nailed his first-ever hole-in-one at the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, California—and won a boat in the process.
The former Philadelphia Phillies star sank the ace on the 12th hole Saturday at Edgewood Tahoe Resort, then celebrated by leaping into the arms of NFL wide receiver Davante Adams.
“It’s funny because last night I prayed for a hole-in-one,” Rollins said, per the Daily Mail, (h/t New York Post's Andrew Crane). “And it happened to come true. Prayers were answered today.”
The shot spun backward into the 139-yard hole and as Rollins realized it had dropped into the cup, he leapt in excitement and dropped his clubs in celebration.
“After yesterday’s round, it was, like: ‘I just want to go out there and not embarrass myself, to be honest,'” Rollins said, per the Daily Mail. “… But as we pulled up to the hole, the volunteer there said: ‘They got this right up there for you guys. They really want to give away this boat.’ I was like, ‘Oh, they do?’ She was like, ‘Yeah. It’s right up front. All you have to do is land it to the right and let it feed to the left.'”
After Sunday's round, Rollins finished 49th at 45-over par for the tournament.
