Penguins Acquire Arturs Silovs in Trade with Canucks After Goalie Wins Calder Cup MVP
The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired goaltender Arturs Silovs in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks, Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas announced Sunday.
The Canucks received forward Chase Stillman and a 2027 fourth-round pick in exchange for Silovs.
Silovs spent the majority of the 2024-25 season with the Abbotsford Canucks of the American Hockey League, earning Calder Cup MVP honors.

He finished with a 14-5-2 record to go along with a .908 save percentage in 21 regular-season games with Abbotsford during his 2024-25 campaign. Silovs helped the team secure its first Calder Cup, becoming the fourth goaltender to be named Playoff MVP.
He also has 19 games of NHL experience under his belt.
The 24-year-old is under contract through the 2025-26 season and his deal carries an average annual value of $850,000. He'll eventually become a restricted free agent in 2026.
Silovs could contribute immediately in Pittsburgh, as Dubas wasn't satisfied with the team's goaltending last season.
“We also conceded a lot defensively in terms of what was expected to be given up," Dubas told reporters in April. "But we also allowed more than expected, so that's a really poor combination. Both need to be rectified."
The Penguins had an open spot at goalie alongside Tristan Jarry after trading Alex Nedeljkovic to the San Jose Sharks on July 1.
As for Stillman, he split the 2024-25 season with the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Utica Comets. He recorded 12 points in 65 combined games.
While the Penguins attempt to end a three-year playoff drought next season, they added Silovs on Sunday.
