Jannik Sinner Beats Carlos Alcaraz to Win 2025 Wimbledon Men's Final Bracket

Scott PolacekJul 13, 2025

Jannik Sinner is a Wimbledon champion for the first time.

The No. 1 seed defeated Carlos Alcaraz, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the 2025 Wimbledon men's singles final on Sunday to win the prestigious event. He prevented Alcaraz from making history and joining Björn Borg, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic as the only men in the Open Era to win Wimbledon three straight years.

Sinner entered Sunday's match as the last one to defeat Alcaraz at Wimbledon in the 2022 round of 16 and handled the Spaniard once again to win the fourth Grand Slam of his career.

This was the dream final matchup, especially since they just played a thrilling five-set match in this year's final at Roland Garros. Alcaraz prevailed in that one and entered play with an 8-4 advantage in their previous 12 head-to-head clashes and a five-match winning streak.

While that 2022 Wimbledon matchup proved Sinner could win these matchups on the biggest stages, it was Alcaraz who wasted no time setting the tone. He broke Sinner's final two service games in the first set to seize early control with the set-winning point coming on a breathtaking backhand to end an incredible back-and-forth.

Yet that momentum was short-lived.

Sinner broke the first game of the second set and didn't look back as he won all five of his service games to tie it at a set apiece. The extended rallies continued, and it was Sinner's turn to unleash an astounding set winner on a vicious crosscourt forehand.

It was more high-level tennis in the third set with Sinner hitting a between-the-legs shot, Alcaraz countering with electric serves and the top two seeds trading momentum. They held serve for the first eight games combined, but Sinner finally broke through in a crucial moment.

Just like that, the two-time reigning champion's back was against the wall as Sinner won another set by holding every service game. The ruthless efficiency also put more pressure on Alcaraz's service games since even one slip could be the difference between another Wimbledon title and a painful second-place finish.

That pressure was palpable as Sinner broke Alcaraz early in the fourth set and continued to work his way closer to the championship that had previously eluded him.

Even the fortunate breaks were going Sinner's way, as he held serve to go up 4-2 in the fourth set when the ball bounced off the net and just fell in bounds. By then it was just a matter of time before he lifted the trophy given the way he was serving, although he had to hold off two break points to extend the lead to 5-3.

It was a tournament-defining rally back for Sinner, especially because the crowd seemed to be behind Alcaraz's comeback effort.

That same crowd also chanted "Jannik" in the final game, which was a fitting tribute to a worthy champion.
