49ers' Trent Williams Called 'the Most Powerful Tackle I've Ever Seen' by NFL Coach
San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams garnered high praise from an anonymous offensive coach who was evaluating the best at the position.
"When he's clicking, there's still nobody better," the coach said to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. "He's the most powerful tackle I've ever seen."
Williams dropped from first to fourth in Fowler's annual OT rankings, which is due in large part to an ankle injury that sidelined him for the final seven games of 2024.

NFL coach calls CFB transfer players 'clowns'
His performance wasn't in question when he was healthy. He ranked second behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Tristan Wirfs in pass block win rate, per ESPN.com, and Fowler noted he had the longest average time to pressure (3.78 seconds) of any left tackle.
Now that his ankle is no longer an issue, perhaps Williams will reassert himself as the best tackle in the league.
There's no question the 36-year-old will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame once he's eligible for a bust in Canton, Ohio. He's an 11-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro whose longevity sets him apart from his peers.
Those who saw Williams play will also testify to his strength and power as well. If you're an NFL defender, one of the last things you want to see is Williams pulling to the outside in your direction. The 6'5", 320-pound blocker is unstoppable when he builds a head of steam.
As he gets deeper into his 30s, Williams may have a harder time shaking off the small knocks that accumulate over the course of a season. Getting older has done nothing to diminish his physical tools, however.
