In the American Century Championship, a score of three-under-par is worth 10 points and a hole-in-one is worth eight points. An eagle is six points, a birdie is worth three points, a par is one point, a bogey is worth zero points and a double-bogey or worse results in a two-point subtraction.

Pavelski, who celebrated his birthday on Friday, got off to a strong start in the tournament. He recorded a bogey on hole No. 16, but finished with three birdies as well.

He also took some time to chat with Curry, the 2023 American Century Championship winner, during the tournament.

2024 winner Mardy Fish remained within striking distance of the No. 1 spot through Round 1, finishing with 17 points.

The second round of the tournament will be on Saturday.
