Jalen Ramsey No. 5 Steelers Uniform Photo Edit Revealed By Team After Dolphins Trade
Jalen Ramsey has a new team heading into the 2025 campaign, but he'll keep the jersey number he's worn over the past few seasons.
The Pittsburgh Steelers revealed Thursday that Ramsey, who the team traded for in June, will wear No. 5, the same number he rocked with the Miami Dolphins.
Ramsey started his NFL career wearing No. 20 with the Jacksonville Jaguars and kept that number when he joined the Los Angeles Rams in 2019. He switched to No. 5 in 2021 after the league loosened the guidelines on which jersey numbers certain positions could wear, and he's kept that number ever since.
After changing his number in 2021, he said the move was "just because of certain little meanings that I have internally about the number five."
Though the Steelers made the official announcement for Ramsey's jersey number on Thursday, the cornerback hinted a few weeks ago that he'd keep his old number in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh landed Ramsey after sending safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Dolphins. The Steelers also added tight end Jonnu Smith in the trade.
Upon arrival in Pittsburgh, he received a $1.5 million raise to bring his 2025 salary to $26.6 million per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Ramsey is under contract through the 2028 season.
A three-time first-team All-Pro, Ramsey is coming off a season in which he logged 60 total tackles, 11 passes defended and a pair of interceptions. While the 30-year-old might be a bit past his prime, he's looking to anchor the Steelers' secondary as the team looks to find postseason success.
