UFC legend Randy Couture was involved in an accident during practice runs on a race track, but he's already on the mend.

Per Nolan King of MMA Junkie, Couture's spokesperson confirmed that he is expected to make a full recovery after being airlifted to a Kansas City-area burn center Tuesday and suffering first and second-degree burns, trauma and smoke inhalation.

Couture, who remains hospitalized, was doing a practice run in preparation for his National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) debut later this year. The details of what caused the accident and his expected recovery timeline have not been revealed.

The 62-year-old recently expressed his excitement over embarking on new career.

"This is a new way to tickle that competitive spirit that I've had most of my life; a new place for me to get competitive and make a mark in racing," Couture said recently, per TMZ. "I'll bring all the things I developed as a wrestler and martial artist into this realm and see what we can do. I have no idea how it’s going to go, but I'm excited about the opportunities."

A UFC Hall of Famer, Couture was a three-time heavyweight champion and two-time light-heavyweight champion, becoming the first fighter in the promotion ever to win a UFC championship in two different divisions. He was also the UFC 13 Heavyweight Tournament winner.

Couture currently serves as a color commentator and analyst for the PFL.
