Jelly Roll Reportedly Training for WWE Debut Match at SummerSlam 2025 amid Rumors

Mike ChiariJul 10, 2025

Country music star Jelly Roll is reportedly preparing to make his in-ring debut for WWE at SummerSlam next month.

According to PWInsider.com's Mike Johnson, Jelly Roll has been doing some pro wrestling training in anticipation of competing in his first-ever match at the two-night SummerSlam in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Aug. 2 and 3.

Jelly Roll is scheduled to appear on Friday night's episode of SmackDown in his home state of Tennessee, and Johnson noted that it will mark the start of his program for SummerSlam.

Johnson added that Jelly Roll is expected to join forces with a "top babyface," and while the identity of his partner isn't yet known, it reportedly won't be Cody Rhodes, who is set to challenge John Cena for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam.

Jelly Roll, 40, made an appearance at SummerSlam last year, performing both God Bless America and his hit song Liar. Jelly Roll also got physically involved by hitting Austin Theory with a chokeslam while The Miz and R-Truth hyped him up.

Although it is possible WWE could build an entirely new program for Jelly Roll, Theory and Grayson Waller would be logical opponents in the event that WWE draws on the history Jelly Roll has with them.

Jelly Roll could conceivably team with The Miz or Truth in that scenario as well, which would take much of the pressure off his shoulders.

The Miz was a heel when he was last seen on WWE programming, but it would make sense to turn him babyface and make him Jelly Roll's partner thanks to his history of success when it comes to working with celebrities.

The Miz faced musician Bad Bunny in a tag team match at WrestleMania 37 and teamed with Logan Paul at WrestleMania 38. He was also Paul's opponent in his first-ever singles match at SummerSlam 2022.

WWE has been highly effective at integrating celebrities into the product over the years and helping them put on the best matches possible even without any experience.

It dates back to Mr. T teaming with Hulk Hogan against "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff in the main event of the first WrestleMania, and it sounds like Jelly Roll will be the latest in a long line of celebrities to step inside the squared circle for WWE.
