2-Time LPGA Winner Charley Hull Collapses on Course, Withdraws from Evian Championship
Charley Hull withdrew from the Evian Championship midway through the first round after collapsing on the fourth hole.
According to Golfweek's Beth Ann Nichols, Hull took a seat by a bunker on No. 3 and was "clearly looking unwell." She collapsed before and after hitting her tee shot on the next hole.
The tournament broadcast said she's dealing with an undisclosed illness. Her representatives told BBC Sport's Matt Davis and Lorraine McKenna she got an IV drip at the course.
Hull was shooting one under before removing herself from the tournament. She opened with a bogey on No. 10 but then birdied three of the next seven holes before giving back a stroke on No. 18.
The 29-year-old has nine top-10 finishes in major tournaments but it still looking for her first triumph in any of the five events.
Hull does have a pair of victories on the LPGA Tour. She came out on top in the CME Group Tour Championship in 2016 and Volunteers of America Classic in 2022.
The England native also has four wins on the Ladies European Tour, the most recent of which was last November in the Aramco Team Series tourney in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
