Andrew PetersJul 9, 2025

Lionel Messi has accomplished nearly every feat possible at this point in his career, but he's still finding ways to make history.

The Inter Miami star became the first player in MLS history to score multiple goals in four straight regular-season games, per The Athletic's Matt Moret. He reached the historic mark with a pair of goals against the New England Revolution on Wednesday.

Messi began the streak with a pair of goals against CF Montréal in May. He added two more against the Columbus Crew before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup in June. Once the MLS regular season resumed in July, he tacked on two goals again against CF Montréal, paving the way for him to make history on Wednesday.

What's more, Messi's individual success has yielded team success as Inter Miami has won its last four regular-season games.

Messi has the second-most goals in MLS this season with 14, only behind Nashville FC's Sam Surridge. He also has seven assists in 15 games.

Miami is 10-3-5 on the season, sitting in fifth place in the Eastern Conference.
