B/R Staff Predictions for Amanda Serrano vs. Katie Taylor 3

B/R Combat Sports StaffJul 10, 2025

Amanda Serrano vs. Katie Taylor might be the most important rivalry in women's boxing history. And on Friday, we finally get a conclusive end to the rivalry.

The two will again meet in the ring at Madison Square Garden to decide who is women's boxing's top star.

Will Taylor complete a sweep of wins over Serrano? Or will the Puerto Rican finally get her elusive win?

The B/R Combat Sports staff is here to break down the fight and provide predictions.

Serrano to Finish Trilogy With the Win

Taylor v Serrano 3 - Open Workouts

There's an argument to be made that Serrano beat Taylor in the first two fights of their rivalry.

Serrano landed more punches and power punches against Taylor, according to Compubox, in both bouts of their soon-to-be trilogy.

Stats aren't always the be-all and end-all in boxing, but they are a good starting point for why one would favor her.

Serrano is also the younger fighter at 36 and in a sport like boxing, where competitors' primes can fall off a cliff, time would favor Serrano compared to Taylor, who is 39.

The pick here is Serrano finally gets the win she deserves, as the hunger to prove she's the best in women's boxing gets it done.

Prediction: Serrano by unamious decision.

Serrano Wins Rivalry with Decisive Finish

Mike Tyson v Jake Paul

The more I think about Serrano and Taylor, the more I've pondered Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao.

More than a few people believe Marquez deserved better than the 0-2-1 record he'd run up against the Filipino superstar in 2004, 2008 and 2011. In fact, I'd suggest he was no worse than 1-1-1 in those three fights and could have been 2-1 or even unbeaten prior to fight No. 4 in 2012.

He made it academic that December night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, landing a counter right hand that not only won him the fight by sixth-round KO but also made almost everyone forget the scorecard injustices of the first three fights.

The similarities here are striking given Serrano, too, deserves far better than the 0-2 mark she picked up against Taylor in 2022 and 2024. These eyes thought she won both those fights, narrowly perhaps, but definitively.

And given she's the power puncher and was able to rattle Taylor in each of the first two bouts, the guess here is she lands a definitive series of shots again, but this time is able to get the rivalry-winning finish.

Justice is served with a 10-count.

PredictionSerrano by KO, Round 5.

The Judges Finally Side with Serrano

Press Conference at MSG Theater ahead of Netflix's Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano 3 fight on July 11 at Madison Square Garden

I can’t argue with anything Lucky said. I was one of many who thought Amanda Serrano could have easily walked away with the win in her first two fights with Katie Taylor, which gives me a lot of confidence she can actually pull it off this time. When you factor in the pair’s ages, a Serrano win seems even more likely. Sure, she’s no spring chicken at 36, but she is still younger than her opponent, and that matters. Taylor’s 2023 loss to Chantelle Cameron also looms large in my mind. Of course, Cameron is a much bigger fighter than Serrano, and Taylor quickly avenged the loss in an immediate rematch, but it was a defeat all the same. It offered proof that it can be done.

My thinking is that Serrano once again lands slightly more than Taylor, but this time, the damage will be much more visible, and the judges’ will finally see things her way.

Serrano gets the W on Netflix, just as Jake Paul intended.

Prediction: Serrano by unanimous decision
