The clash between Lynch, Bayley and Valkyria was a long time coming, dating back to WrestleMania 41 in April.

Bayley and Lyra were originally slated to team up against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez in a WWE Women's Tag Team Championship match, but Bayley was taken out by a mystery attacker.

It was unclear who Valkyria's replacement partner would be until the time of the match when Becky made her return to WWE programming after nearly a year away. Lyra and Becky went on to win the tag titles, but they dropped them back to Liv and Raquel the next night on Raw.

After their loss, Lynch attacked Valkyria and turned heel. The Man also admitted to being the one responsible for the attack on Bayley shortly thereafter.

While Bayley was out of action, Becky and Lyra engaged in a feud over the Women's Intercontinental Championship, leading to a match between them at Backlash, which Valkyria won.

Lynch launched an attack after the match, though, setting up a rematch at Money in the Bank. Becky made the most of her second title opportunity by beating Valkyria, but Lyra gave her a taste of her own medicine afterward by attacking The Man.

On the ensuing episode of Raw, Bayley made her long-awaited return to WWE programming by confronting and attacking Lynch as payback for WrestleMania.

Bayley was granted a women's IC title shot against Becky on the June 23 episode of Raw, but Lynch won by disqualification due to interference by Valkyria, which created bad blood between Bayley and Lyra.

Valkyria and Bayley were pitted against each other in a No. 1 contender's match on the June 30 edition of Raw with the winner going on to challenge Lynch at Evolution, but when they pinned each other simultaneously, the Evolution title match was turned into a Triple Threat.

At the second all-women's premium live event in WWE history, Lynch took advantage of the issues between Bayley and Lyra by beating both of them to retain the Women's Intercontinental Championship.
