Novak Djokovic Joins Roger Federer as Only Men's Players to Win 100 Wimbledon Matches

Julia StumbaughJul 5, 2025

Novak Djokovic made history with his three-set win over Miomir Kecmanović during Saturday's third round of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships.

The victory marked Djokovic's 100th career win at Wimbledon, making him the first men's player since Roger Federer to reach the milestone.

Djokovic and Federer are now the only tennis players to have won 100 matches at multiple major events since professionals entered Grand Slam competition in 1968, per ESPN.

Djokovic rebounded from a first-set loss to Kecmanović and claimed a 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 victory on Saturday. He will now advance to face Alex de Minaur in the fourth round.

Holding Kecmanović without a point in the second set marked the 51st time Djokovic has recorded a 6-0 set in a Grand Slam tournament.

That passed Andre Agassi for the most career 6-0 sets in men's majors history, according to the ESPN broadcast.

When asked about how it sounded to have joined Federer and Martina Navratilova as the only Wimbledon competitors with 100 career match wins, Djokovic answered, "Very historic. Sounds very nice."

"Tennis made me who I am, has given me incredible things in life that I can experience," Djokovic said. "So I try to take anything for granted, particularly at this age. Still going strong, still trying to compete with the young players and do some slides and some splits on the court, and push myself to the limit.

"Wimbledon is a favorite tournament, and a dream tournament, of not just myself but so many, probably a majority of the tennis players. Growing up, most of the kids dream of playing here, and winning here. And I've been blessed to do it multiple times, and any history that I make in my favorite tournament, I'm blessed."

Those aren't the only records Djokovic has set this weekend. With a three-set win over Dan Evans on Thursday, Djokovic secured his 19th trip to the third round of Wimbledon, passing Federer for the most third-round by any men's player in the Open era.

"Nineteen times, that's a great stat," Djokovic said after his Thursday win, per ESPN, before joking: "That's probably almost as much as Sinner and Alcaraz have years in their lives."

There's still a chance Djokovic, 38, could face off against either 22-year-old Carlos Alcaraz or 23-year-old Jannik Sinner later in the tournament. Both advanced to the fourth round with their own third-round wins on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Djokovic is seeking his eighth career crown at Wimbledon, while Alcaraz is looking to win a third straight and Sinner is competing for his first career title at the tournament.
