Tiffany Stratton Beats Trish Stratus in Dream Match at WWE Evolution 2025

Mike ChiariJul 13, 2025

Tiffany Stratton defeated WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus at Evolution on Sunday to retain the WWE Women's Championship.

The battle of the eras ended when Stratton hit her Prettiest Moonsault Ever to get the pin on Stratus. Despite the loss, Stratus received a standing ovation from the crowd and celebrated in the ring following her possible final match.

On a recent episode of SmackDown, Stratton was given the opportunity to choose her challenger at Evolution, much like Iyo Sky was on Raw.

Stratton was interrupted by Jade Cargill, who earned the right to challenge for the WWE women's title at SummerSlam by virtue of winning the Queen of the Ring tournament, but that didn't deter Tiffany from bringing out Trish.

Stratus wasn't initially sure why Stratton had invited her to SmackDown, but Tiffany surprised Trish by revealing that she wanted to face the legendary Superstar in a title match at Evolution.

Prior to Stratton choosing Stratus as her Evolution opponent, they had some history together as allies.

Earlier this year, Stratus was a surprise entrant in the women's Royal Rumble match. One month later, she joined forces with Stratton in her rivalry against Nia Jax and Candice LeRae.

That led to a tag team match at Elimination Chamber in Stratus' hometown of Toronto, and Trish and Tiffy proved to be a winning combination, as they got the better of Nia and Candice.

However, at Evolution, Stratton and Stratus were on opposite sides, as their championship match pitted one of the best women's wrestlers today against one of the greatest of all time.

For many, Stratton vs. Stratus was a dream match, and it was very much in the spirit of celebrating the history of women's wrestling on what was only the second all-women's premium live event WWE has ever held.

As most probably expected, Stratton managed to retain in a hard-fought bout, meaning she is in line to defend the WWE Women's Championship against Cargill next month at SummerSlam.
