J.J. Watt Donates $10K to Super Bowl Champion Bryan Braman amid Cancer Treatment

Adam WellsJul 5, 2025

Houston Texans legend J.J. Watt has donated $10,000 to former NFL linebacker Bryan Braman after it was revealed Braman is receiving treatment for cancer.

Sean Stellato, Braman's agent, told Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 the situation is serious and he has undergone multiple surgeries and treatment for a rare form of cancer.

"He is a pillar and a staple of the underdog," Stellato said of Braman. "Now, in the face of cancer, he embodies those qualities more than ever. If there is one person that I know that can beat cancer, it is Bryan Braman, who I have always considered family. He’s in the fight of his life. Please support Bryan and keep him in your prayers."

Wilson noted that William Jones, a friend of Braman, started a GoFundMe to raise money for treatment.

Jones wrote in the description Braman recently underwent a Car-t cell reprogramming treatment in Seattle that has "the highest chance of success as the cells are reprogrammed to fight this cancer that is within Bryan."

Watt is one of several people from the NFL who donated to support Jones' treatment. Others who have contributed to the fund include Chris Long, Duane Brown, Chris Ballard, Brian Cushing, Rasul Douglas and Brent Celek.

According to Jones, the "main problem" right now is Braman has struggled to recover from his surgical procedures due to his lowered immunity levels as a result of the treatment, allowing the cancer to expand at a rapid rate and it's "growing around his vital organs."

Jones originally set a $25,000 goal for the GoFundMe. It has raised over $53,000 as of Saturday morning.

Braman had a seven-year NFL career from 2011 to 2017. He was originally signed by the Texans as an undrafted free agent, spending three years with the club before joining the Philadelphia Eagles in March 2014.

The Eagles brought Braman back in December 2017 after he was released by the New Orleans Saints early in the season. He played on special teams throughout the playoffs, recording one tackle in the 41-33 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 52.
