The U.S. Women’s National Team rolled to a dominant 3-0 victory over Canada in an international friendly, with veteran midfielder Sam Coffey setting the tone early.

Coffey, of the Portland Thorns, opened the scoring in the 17th minute, capitalizing on early pressure to give the U.S. a 1-0 lead. Kansas City Current midfielder Claire Hutton added to the tally in the 36th minute with a smooth finish that sent the U.S. into halftime up 2-0.
Houston Dash forward Yazmeen Ryan sealed the deal in the 89th minute, burying a late goal to cap off the shutout and stamp an emphatic win for the Americans.
The USWNT fired off 22 shots, with eight on target and three finding the back of the net in a dominant showing. They controlled possession for 65.5 percent of the match and committed just five fouls compared to Canada’s 13. The U.S. also earned six corner kicks while shutting Canada out in that category.
It was an all-around statement performance from the red, white and blue.
