Joyce Edwards, USA Excite Fans in Dominant Win vs. Mexico at FIBA Women's AmeriCup

The United States continued its dominance at the FIBA Women's AmeriCup on Wednesday, defeating Mexico 104-48 and finishing Group B play with a perfect 4-0 record and 172-point differential.

South Carolina star forward Joyce Edwards posted 13 points, four rebounds and three assists while posting a team-best plus-35. Utah guard Gianna Kneepkens scored a team-high 20 points, while Vanderbilt guard Mikayla Blakes added 15 points. TCU guard Olivia Miles' 10 assists (in just 20 minutes) led all players, and she added six points, six rebounds and three steals.

Other notable performances in the box score included Notre Dame guard and two-time first-team All-American Hannah Hidalgo's nine points and five steals and Michigan State forward Grace Van Slooten's 12 points and six rebounds in 17 minutes.

As a team, the United States shot 51.2 percent from the field and out-rebounded its opponent 51-37. The Americans also held Mexico to 30.8 percent shooting (2-of-18 from three-point range).

Anisa Jeffreis starred for Mexico, pacing the team with 14 points, nine assists and five steals.

Naturally, fans were impressed with the United States' efforts.

The United States will now advance to the knockout round on Friday to play the fourth-place team in Group A, which will be Canada, the Dominican Republic or Argentina.
