Izzy Rodriguez, USWNT Impress Fans with Dominant Win vs. Ireland

Ireland have had just about enough of the United States women's national team.

After bludgeoning the Irish 4-0 on Thursday, the USWNT followed with another dominant performance, replicating that scoreline for a second time in friendly action.

Lynn Biyendolo and Izzy Rodriguez each scored for the United States in the first half, while Yazmeen Ryan and Alyssa Thompson got on the board in the second half.

It was another one-sided affair in favor of the Americans, who held 72.7 percent of possession, out-shot their counterparts by a 25-3 margin (10-0 on goal) and had two corners compared to one for Ireland.

For the United States, it was a solid pair of friendlies ahead of Wednesday's matchup with Canada. The team was able to get solid experience for a number of players who aren't first-team options without the quality on the pitch seeing a major downturn. That level of depth bodes well for the team, especially as preparations for the 2027 World Cup begin to ramp up.

The United States will be expected to beat the Irelands of the world, no doubt. But there is no denying that an 8-0 advantage over two legs of this friendly series is an excellent showing, and the sort of result that offers further confidence that the team's disappointment at the 2023 World Cup won't be replicated.
