America's Team is about to be under the spotlight once again later this summer.

Emmy-winning directors Chapman and Maclain Way are behind the eight-episode series, which will chronicle the rise of the Cowboys under team owner, president and general manager Jerry Jones.

"It's a soap opera 365 days a year," Jones said in the trailer while also setting the scene for the narrative by adding, "we were gambling my family's entire fortune, so I had to take risks."

America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys will feature firsthand interviews and behind-the-scenes footage with many of the key figures who played a role in Dallas' ascension to three-time Super Bowl champions during the 1990s.

Jones, Troy Aikman, Deion Sanders, Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer will all be interviewed, as will other people who weren't necessarily around the Cowboys every day such as former President George W. Bush and Nike founder Phil Knight.

Jones is arguably the most famous team owner in American sports, and he purchased the NFL franchise in 1989 for $150 million.

It's safe to say some of the risks he talked about in the trailer paid off, as CNBC listed the Cowboys as the most valuable NFL team with a valuation of $11 billion in 2024.

The organization's peak, at least in terms of football success, came in the 1990s when stars such as Aikman, Smith, Irvin and Sanders helped lead the team to three Super Bowl titles in a four-year span from the 1992 campaign through the 1995 one.

The upcoming Netflix series will explore the football side of that success, as well as some of the off-field drama that surrounded the franchise as it was collecting Lombardi Trophies.

Those remain the only three Super Bowl titles during the Jones era. The Cowboys have not advanced to the NFC Championship Game since they won the Super Bowl during the 1995 season.
