CM Punk Trolls John Cena on Video at WWE SmackDown Before Night of Champions 2025
CM Punk pulled out all the stops to troll John Cena during his Farewell Tour, taking direct shots at the 16-time world champion ahead of Night of Champions 2025.
Not only did CM Punk debut his own rendition of “Basic Thuganomics” — dubbed “Basic Punkanomics” — but he also dressed in mock tribute to Cena before launching into a promo filled with jabs at the WWE legend.
Punk took aim at Cena’s retirement, mocking him for wanting to retire after WWE re-hired his ex-fiancée Nikki Bella. He called Cena a worse actor than Dave Bautista, a more problematic version of Hulk Hogan and capped it off by saying, “Millions chant my name — and at you, they chant, ‘You can’t wrestle.’”
It was, to say the least, a rough night for Cena.
Not to mention the lyrics of “Punkanomics,” which featured this pointed verse:
“14 years ago today, I dropped the legendary pipebomb, and you tried to make it all about you because that’s what you do John, you’re a leech, you’re a phony, you’re a fraud, you’re an a-- kiss. 17-time champion but you ain’t ever been in my class. Before you go John, there’s one more wish to make, tomorrow night you’re gonna lose to Kendrick because b---h, you’re my Drake.”
The rivalry between the two legendary superstars is set to reach its crescendo Saturday at Night of Champions, where Punk will challenge Cena for the undisputed WWE title.
