Adam Sandler got in his "Happy Gilmore" character to announce the Boston Bruins' No. 7 pick of the 2025 NHL draft.

Sandler wore Happy's Bruins jersey to announce the team's selection of Boston College forward James Hagens in a video shown during Friday's first round in Los Angeles.

Hagens was ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect on Bleacher Report's final 2025 NHL Draft Big Board.

He was initially projected as a potential top pick after a dominant run with the U.S. National Team Development Program, where he ranked seventh among all USNTDP skaters with 102 points (39 goals, 63 assists) in 58 games of the 2023-24 season.

The forward fell into the Bruins' range after tallying 11 goals and 26 assists through 37 games of his freshman college season.

Hagens helped form a dominant top line for BC by skating with Washington Capitals prospect Ryan Leonard and New York Rangers prospect Gabe Perreault.

Bleacher Report's Adam Herman wrote in his 2025 NHL Draft Scouting Report for Hagens that this season helped establish the freshman "a true playmaking center."

"His understanding of spacing on and off the puck is top-tier," Herman wrote. "He has strong peripheral awareness and is good at mentally anticipating how his own movements will open new lanes around defenders and for teammates... With his quick mental processing, soft hands and evasive properties, Hagens has the tools to be a dynamic creator."

Having a playmaking center in the development pipeline will be key for the Bruins as the team prepares to enter a new era after parting ways with Brad Marchand, Charlie Coyle, Trent Frederic and Brandon Carlo.

If Hagens returns for a second college season, the likely promotions of Leonard and Perreault to the NHL could give the Bruins' newest prospect more offensive responsibilities next season.
