The summer of 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of X Games, and the iconic action sports competition is celebrating with an event this month in a new location: Salt Lake City.
X Games Salt Lake City 2025, which will be held at the Utah State Fairpark and Event Center June 27–29, comes on the heels of X Games Osaka, another first-ever location.
Many fans associate X Games with one summer and one winter event each year in the U.S., though one-off competitions have seen the brand expand to international locations such as Chiba, Japan; Norway; and Sydney, Australia. But as X Games prepares to launch X Games League in 2026, the plan under majority owner MSP Sports Capital and new CEO Jeremy Bloom is for eight annual events, four winter and four summer, to be held in host cities around the globe.
It's an ambitious new future X Games is charting, and it imbues the 30th anniversary celebration in Salt Lake City with an additional layer of nostalgia, as one of the last traditional events before X Games League shakes things up and charts a new course.
Here's everything you need to know to tune in to X Games Salt Lake City, as well as which athletes to keep an eye on.

Skateboard
Skateboarding at X Games Salt Lake City will be headlined by two athletes: 15-year-old Arisa Trew and decorated veteran Nyjah Huston.
Trew has been on a tear. The Paris 2024 Olympic gold medalist in women's park is coming off double gold in women's park and vert at X Games Osaka last week. With those two medals, the Aussie teenager set a new record for most X Games women's skateboarding gold medals, with seven.
Now Trew is tied with Brazil's Gui Khury for most X Games gold medals by a teenager. Khury made headlines at X Games in 2021 when he landed the first 1080 on a (non-mega) vert ramp, doing so in front of Tony Hawk, who of course landed the first 900 at X Games in 1999.
Tom Schaar landed the first-ever 1080 on a mega ramp in 2012. Fast-forward 13 years and the 25-year-old is still leading the way in transition skating. He's coming off a double-medal performance at X Games Osaka, defending his gold in skateboard park and taking bronze in vert.
Over on the street course, all eyes will be on Huston. At X Games Ventura 2024, he took gold in skateboard street and Street Best Trick, trying Shaun White and Garrett Reynolds for most all-time X Games gold medals, though Reynolds has since upped it to 16 with BMX Street gold at X Games Chiba 2024. In the street and street best trick events at X Games Salt Lake City 2025, Huston has a chance to tie and then overtake Reynolds for the sole record.
Other skateboarders who should not be missed include women's street skater Chloe Covell, coming off gold in Osaka, and Paris 2024 Olympic gold medalist in men's park Keegan Palmer. Both hail from Australia.
BMX
Speaking of Garrett Reynolds, the king of BMX street has earned a medal in a mind-boggling 20 of 22 X Games Street contests and has an opportunity to further insulate his record 16 gold medal mark in Salt Lake City.
Arguably the most crowd-pleasing BMXer to watch, Ryan Williams, will be doing his thing in Salt Lake City as well, both on the dirt course as well as in BMX Park Best Trick. He's coming off gold in the latter discipline at X Games Osaka 2025 with a technical frontflip flair tailwhip on the quarter pipe. R-Willy is known for continually putting down never-been-done tricks and for his gravity-defying stunts with Nitro Circus.
The Renaissance man of BMX is almost certainly Kevin Peraza, one of the few riders as proficient in street and dirt as he is in park. Peraza joined Williams on the BMX Park Best Trick podium in Osaka, taking bronze with a flair downwhip to fakie over the box.
Salt Lake City will mark only the second time that X Games has held a women's BMX competition, after women's BMX park debuted at X Games Ventura 2024. The women's BMX GOAT, Hannah Roberts, took gold in that event and returns to defend her title, alongside Paris 2024 silver medalist Perris Benegas, also of the U.S., and bronze medalist Natalya Diehm of Australia.
Moto X
Moto X will consist of three events in Salt Lake City: Best Trick, Best Whip and QuarterPipe High Air. Australia's Rob Adelberg is coming off best trick gold in Osaka and lays claim to 19 total X Games medals (nine gold). But Jackson Strong, who has eight gold medals in best trick, is not to be counted out.
In QuarterPipe High Air, Tyler Bereman has never missed the podium and has 15 Moto X medals overall.
