WWE HOFer Jim Ross Announces He's Cancer-Free, Eyes Announcing Return at AEW All In

Longtime announcer Jim Ross is aiming to return to the broadcast table for AEW's All In show on July 12 after doctors provided an encouraging update.

"You never know about tomorrow. The cancer's gone, which I'm very happy to say," Ross said on his Grilling JR podcast (via Angel Aramboles of WrestlingNews.co). "So you know, I'm blessed that my health has returned, and I'm feeling pretty damn good."

Ross, a WWE Hall of Famer, has been with AEW since its inception in 2019. He was on the call for Double or Nothing, the company's first official pay-per-view, and became a weekly mainstay on Dynamite.

In the fall of 2021, the 73-year-old took a brief leave of absence after he was diagnosed with skin cancer. In February 2024, he announced he underwent a cancer surgery on his right hip. Then this past May, he said doctors had diagnosed him with colon cancer.

On his podcast, Ross thanked AEW president Tony Khan for all of the support he has received from the company.

"I'm very indebted to AEW for hiring me, bringing me on board, and Tony Khan has been amazingly wonderful during my illness," he said. "He supported me wholeheartedly and I really do appreciate that. That's the way a boss should act, should do is take care of your people. And Tony Khan has certainly taken good care of me, and I plan on being reciprocal and doing my best to take care of him in my role going forward."

Ross added he has a checkup next month that should bring more clarity.

"But I am under the belief that the worst is behind me and feeling pretty good as I said, all the way around, other than the soreness," he said (via Andrew Ravens of 411Mania.com).

AEW is staging the fourth edition of the All In PPV at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
