Barry Bonds to Receive Statue Outside of Giants' Oracle Park, CEO Larry Baer Says

Jack MurrayJun 25, 2025

Legendary outfielder Barry Bonds will be immortalized outside of San Francisco's Oracle Park.

During an appearance on 95.7 The Game's The Morning Roast, San Francisco Giants CEO Larry Baer was asked when Bonds will receive a statue. While no plan is imminent, Baer said that the project is "next up" and that Bonds' increased presence in recent seasons shows how close the day is.

“You know what, no disagreement from us on that topic,” Baer said. “On the radar, I would say it’s on the radar. Barry is deserving of a statue and I would say, should be next up. We don’t have the exact location and the exact date and the exact timing, but you’re saying things that we’re totally in sync with.

“You probably notice, Barry’s around a lot, more recently this year and last year as well … It’s coming. All I can say is it’s coming.”

Bonds is one of the most accomplished players in MLB history. He was a seven-time MVP and a 14-time All-Star, and his 762 home runs are the most of any batter in MLB history.

He spent 15 of his 22 seasons with the Giants and hit 586 of his home runs with the franchise. He also hit a single-season record 72 home runs with the Giants in 2001, and he slashed .362/.609/.812 and drew a league-record 232 walks during his 2004 MVP campaign, which was his age-39 season.

Bonds helped lead the Giants to the 2002 World Series, but they fell to the Los Angeles Angels. That was his only trip to the World Series.

Bonds is not enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame, likely due to his association with the league's infamous steroid era. However, his closeness to the Giants franchise in recent seasons and continued support from the fanbase make a statue honoring him a logical next step for San Francisco.
