Solo Sikoa Beats Jacob Fatu to Win WWE USA Title, Hikuleo Debuts at Night of Champions
Solo Sikoa defeated Jacob Fatu at WWE Night of Champions on Saturday to win the United States Championship for the first time.
Sikoa was the beneficiary of a ton of interference from JC Mateo, the returning Tonga Loa and the debuting Hikuleo, the latter of whom chokeslammed Fatu onto the announce table, leading to Solo's win.
Just over one year ago, Fatu made his WWE debut as a member of The Bloodline under Sikoa, and over the next several months, he established himself as Solo's fiercest protector.
Fatu became known for his, "I love you, Solo!" catchphrase, but the dynamic between them truly started to change coming out of WrestleMania 41 after Fatu beat LA Knight the U.S. title.
With Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa out due to injury, what was once Sikoa's version of The Bloodline had been whittled down to only himself and Fatu.
At Backlash last month, Fatu put the United States Championship on the line in a Fatal 4-Way match against Knight, Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest, which put The Samoan Werewolf in a precarious position.
During the latter stages of the match, Mateo debuted by lending a helping hand to Fatu, who went on to win the match and retain the title.
Although Fatu was victorious, he was clearly confused and put off by the fact that Solo went behind his back and added Mateo to the group without his input.
That led to everything coming to a head at the Money in the Bank premium live event during the men's Money in the Bank ladder match in which Solo was a participant.
Fatu and Mateo showed up to wreck shop, seemingly allowing Sikoa a clear path to climb the ladder and grab the Money in the Bank briefcase, but Fatu stopped him at the last second, told him he hated him and cost him the match.
With Fatu and Sikoa beyond the point of no return with regard to fixing their brotherhood, they agreed to do battle at Night of Champions with the United States Championship on the line.
Sikoa got the better of Fatu at Night of Champions to win his first title on the main roster, but given the bad blood between them, it seems likely that Fatu will be out for revenge.
