Diontae Johnson Says He 'Checked Out' with Ravens, Talks Refusal to Enter vs. Eagles

Andrew PetersJun 24, 2025

Diontae Johnson had a forgettable 2024 campaign that saw him play for three different teams, and he opened up about his time with the Baltimore Ravens recently.

On the Sports and Suits podcast, Johnson explained what went wrong in Baltimore.

"It just wasn't for me. I checked out mentally," he said (19-minute mark). "I felt like I wasn't getting used."

Johnson also broke down what happened when he refused to enter the Ravens' matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, leading to his suspension.

"I wasn't getting no run plays, no passing plays or nothing," he said. "It was cold. End of the third, going into the fourth, they were like, 'Tae, we need you.' I was like, 'Nah, I don't think it's a good idea for me.' Like my legs are already ice cold and I didn't wanna go out there and put bad stuff on film."

Johnson had the worst season of his career last season, recording just 375 yards and three touchdowns as he bounced from the Carolina Panthers, to the Ravens, to the Houston Texans and back to the Ravens.

Now a member of the Cleveland Browns, he'll look to put the 2024 campaign behind him and get a fresh start.
