WWE Raw: Potential Spoilers, Rumors, News and Preview for July 13

Donald WoodJul 13, 2015

The 2015 edition of WWE’s Battleground pay-per-view will take place on Sunday, July 19, but wrestling fans will have to endure another three-hour episode of Raw before we reach the big event.

The go-home episode of Raw should still have bright spots, though, as James Wortman of WWE.com pointed out that No. 1 contender Brock Lesnar and his advocate, Paul Heyman, will be live in Atlanta.

Lesnar and Heyman segments are almost always solid gold.

Add the final build to the United States Championship match between John Cena and Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns’ mental war against Bray Wyatt, and Paige’s continued campaign against the Bellas, and the hope is Raw builds excitement for Sunday’s PPV.

Here is a full breakdown of Monday’s episode of WWE Raw.

Where: Philips Arena, Atlanta, GA

When: Monday, July 13, at 8 p.m. ET

Watch: USA Network

Potential Spoilers

There aren’t many rumors swirling about big events that could take place on Monday’s edition of Raw, but that makes sense because of WWE Creative focusing all of its attention on Sunday’s Battleground PPV.

One rumor making the rounds, though, courtesy of F4WOnline (h/t WrestlingInc.com), states that NXT wrestlers Sasha Banks and Charlotte were not included in a memo to company staff about women who will not be called up soon.

Whether it is on Monday’s episode of Raw or at Sunday’s Battleground PPV, there is a legitimate chance Banks and Charlotte will become the backup Paige has been looking for in her storyline against the Bellas. It’s about time the Divas division got a shot in the arm from two real women wrestlers.

Battleground Main Event

The television rating for Raw may be PG, but what Lesnar did to J&J Security’s Cadillac on the most recent edition was something straight out of the Attitude era. The go-home episode of Raw should feature the smashed car on display throughout the night like it was on SmackDown.

The crushed car symbolizes Lesnar's destruction of Seth Rollins in their upcoming match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and Monday will be the final time the two men will interact before the PPV.

Question on Everyone’s Mind: Is Lesnar Focused on the Title or Revenge?

In WWE’s five-point preview, the question is raised about how much Lesnar’s temper is affecting his pursuit of the title. While many fans will look at taking Rollins’ title as a form of retribution, this could be WWE Creative laying the groundwork for a possible disqualification finish because Lesnar goes overboard.

If Heyman soothes the beast and both men are calm on the go-home show, they will be focused on winning the title at the PPV. On the other hand, if Lesnar shows up and destroys things to get his hands on Rollins, it could be the hint the WWE Universe is looking for regarding a title change at Battleground.

Hype Meter: 10 out of 10 PPV-Worthy Main Events

From the promotional posters for the Battleground card to the build of both Lesnar and Rollins in recent weeks, WWE has set up this main event well and now has one final show to put the finishing touches on the storyline.

This would normally be the time for a contract signing, but the two combatants should not come to blows. If Lesnar approaches Raw in a relatively calm fashion and is solely focused on Sunday’s main event, Rollins and the No. 1 contender standing in the same ring while the champion trades verbal jabs with Heyman would make for the ideal final build to the PPV match.

PPV Go-Home Episode Build

One of the biggest questions heading into Battleground is the role Cesaro will play in the outcome of the United States Championship bout between Cena and Owens. There is a rivalry brewing between Cesaro and Owens, and Cena is caught in the middle.

With Monday marking the last Raw on which the WWE Universe could see Cena with the United States title, fans will be intrigued to hear what he has to say about Owens and Cesaro after last week’s match and post-bout attack.

It may be a long shot, but it wouldn’t be that surprising if Cena gives Cesaro a shot at his title at Battleground too, making it a Triple Threat title match. While there wouldn’t be as much time to build the match, Owens pinning Cesaro for the U.S. title instead of Cena sounds like something the company would do.

Question on Everyone’s Mind: Will Reigns Look Strong Before the PPV?

Wyatt is one of the brightest young talents in the company. The same can be said about Reigns. However, for weeks leading into the Battleground match, these two competitors have been fed terrible storylines, and there have been moments when Reigns looked like a chump.

A battle between Wyatt and Reigns should have been focused around his daughter or anything cohesive, but the angle has jumped from topic to topic each week. Thankfully, Wyatt is entertaining enough on the mic to make this program redeemable, and the go-home episode will likely feature Reigns getting the upper hand before the PPV.

Hype Meter: 8 out of 10 Girl-Shield Stable Formations

For weeks, wrestling fans have been subjected to Paige getting beat down by the Bella Twins and Alicia Fox. While the company will likely wait until the PPV to allow Paige’s backup to make their debuts, the WWE Universe will be looking for hints of NXT call-ups from the women’s division.

Fans desperately want the likes of Charlotte and Banks to come up to the main roster and take over to show what real women’s wrestling is all about. Alongside Paige, a new three-woman faction would give the division a legitimate shot in the arm.

If NXT women’s division stars don’t debut on Monday’s Raw, look out for a wild PPV on Sunday.
