Tour De France 2015: Live Stream Schedule, TV Info, Route for Tuesday's Stage 10

The Tour de France returns on Tuesday, as riders descend on the Pyrenees fresh from a rest day to compete in the gruelling 10th stage of the competition.

Chris Froome retained the yellow jersey after Stage 9 despite BMC Racing taking the victory, and he’ll be looking for a big performance on the 167-kilmetre route to cement his place at the top of the tree.

Here, we look ahead to Tuesday’s stage as the 2015 Tour de France nears its halfway mark.

Tuesday’s stage begins in the small, south-westerly commune of Tarbes, as the peloton makes its way down toward the mountains before finishing at La Pierre-Saint-Martin.

This is the first time that the tour has ever touched down in the popular skiing resort, and it could well produce fireworks.

The route is relatively flat for the most part, but its climax is anything but, as the riders have to endure a ferocious climb to the finish line.

The final 15km will be the ideal time for the likes of Froome’s chasing BMC pack, Tejay van Garderen, Greg Van Avermaet and Co. to make a charge for the yellow jersey.

The leaders will undoubtedly be battling it out on the first proper mountain stage of this year’s event, with the best climbers likely to prevail.

Team Sky’s Richie Porte will be one of those looking to reap mountain glory, and he told BBC Sport after the disappointing narrow loss on Stage 9 that Sky are motivated:

"It hurts to lose by under a second. It's a shame we were spread out on the last climb but we've taken time on most of our big rivals. That was a brutal team time trial. After 5km it was agony. The mountains are coming up now and we are ready to have a good crack at it."

Sky are seven-and-a-half minutes behind BMC heading into Stage 10, but their climbing advantage could see them push back up the team leaderboard.

Movistar's Nairo Quintana needs to make up one minute, 56 seconds to get in yellow, and his ability on steep terrain could see him do exactly that.

However, Froome believes his biggest rival in the Pyrenees is Van Garderen, and he told Cycling Weekly that he’ll be defending his position on Tuesday rather than pushing to extend the lead:

“Right now, my biggest rival is Tejay. It’s not for me to attack the others, but we have a very good team to defend this jersey. Am I as strong as two years ago? I like to think so, but of course, I also have two years’ more experience. Maybe that will help.”

The Pyrenees stages are a good indicator of who has what it takes to go on to win the Tour.

The fast-paced yet gruelling climbs really do separate the men from the boys, and if Froome can produce the goods once again, he may well have to get used to wearing yellow.
