Brandon Aiyuk Rips 49ers Trade Rumors During Injury, 'Couldn’t Walk for 10 Weeks'

Andrew PetersJun 23, 2025

Brandon Aiyuk wasn't a fan of seeing his name in trade rumors while he was injured during the 2024 season.

The San Francisco 49ers' wide receiver ripped the trade speculation surrounding him during his recovery from a torn ACL.

"They was talking bout trading me while I was off percocets /muscle relaxers and peeing in a cup by my bed! Couldn’t walk for 10 weeks ain’t nobody trading for me," Aiyuk wrote on his YouTube channel.

Aiyuk played just seven games last season before suffering a torn ACL in October. Despite his status, there were reports saying the Niners could be open to trading him, though Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reported in March that the team was unlikely to trade him because of his injury.

Those trade rumors seemingly upset him, and he appears ready for a bounce-back season.

"They wanna play cool now," he wrote on YouTube. "Nah f--k no I want tht smoke still."

Aiyuk had the best season of his career in 2023 when he racked up 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. Though he seemed primed for a big year in 2024, he had a bit of a slow start with just 25 receptions for 374 yards before his injury.

San Francisco general manager John Lynch gave a positive update on Aiyuk's rehab after the season.

“I know that anecdotally, he's doing really well,” Lynch told reporters at the NFL combine. “Our trainers who have been with him say he's doing very well. He’s putting in the work, that's what you have to do. And like I've always said, the real top-end athletes tend to heal at a little faster rate and I think that's going on with Brandon as well.”

A healthy Aiyuk will likely be the focal point of the Niners' passing game after the team traded Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders. While he lost a season due to injury, he has the chance to come back strong and help lead his team back to the postseason after a forgettable year.
