USMNT Wins Group D at 2025 Gold Cup, Malik Tillman Applauded by Fans in Win vs. Haiti

The U.S. Men’s National Team edged Haiti 2-1 in Arlington, Texas, capping off a perfect run to win Group D in Gold Cup group play.

Fans were quick to react to the thrilling victory, as Malik Tillman continued his standout play, further cementing his role as one of the squad’s key contributors.

Tillman stayed hot in the tournament, adding another goal to his stat sheet in Sunday’s win. In the 10th minute, the midfielder headed home a Brenden Aaronson assist to give the U.S. an early 1-0 lead.

Haiti’s lone goal came in the 19th minute after a costly giveaway in the box by the 26-year-old U.S. goalkeeper, making just his third start. The mistake tightened the match and raised tensions for the rest of the first half.

In the 75th minute, forward Patrick Agyemang capitalized on a perfectly placed ball from John Tolkin to restore the lead at 2-1.

Team USA fired off 18 shots, six of them on target, while controlling 66 percent of possession.

With three wins in three matches, the U.S. finished group play with a perfect nine points, clinching the top spot in Group D. They’ll face Costa Rica in next weekend’s quarterfinal.
