Lee had a strong weekend but struggled a bit on Sunday, carding five bogeys. That gave Kim and Wannasean the chance to make things competitive, and they both posted 4-under 68s in the final round, though that wasn't enough to catch Lee thanks to her play coming into Sunday.
Lee's strongest performance came in the third round on Saturday, when she managed to put together a bogey-free round despite windy conditions in Frisco. Lee, who is from Australia and now resides in North Texas, said she was prepared for the elements.
"I'm constantly practicing in windy conditions ... It is windy, but not this windy, and it's really consistent as well," Lee said, per the Associated Press. "Yes, I can hit a knock-down shot, but you also have to play the wind. You have to play so much extra out here that you have to be a little more creative."
That outstanding round allowed her to control the lead despite a handful of errors on Sunday.
Lee, whose previous best finish at the Women's PGA Championship was second in 2022, is now closing in on a career grand slam. She's only missing wins at the Chevron Championship and Women's British Open, and she's previously finished in the top three at both events. More performances like the one she had this weekend should give her the grand slam in no time.
