Coastal Carolina HC, 1B Coach Ejected in 1st Inning of CWS Finals Game 2 vs. LSU
Coastal Carolina's bid to stay alive in Game 2 of the College World Series Final against LSU took an early hit.
Already trailing 1-0 in the series, the Chanticleers will be playing without head coach Kevin Schnall and first base coach Matt Schilling for the rest of the game after both of them were ejected in the bottom of the first inning.
To make matters worse, it was reported on the ESPN broadcast that Schnall would also be banned from Game 3 of the CWS Final if Coastal Carolina makes it that far, as he received a two-game ejection for "prolonged arguing."
Schnall addressed the incident after the game with reporters.
"I'm sorry," Schnall said. "I'm not sorry for what happened. I'm sorry for how it ended."
Schnall appeared to be arguing balls and strikes when he got ejected, as he told the home plate umpire, "You missed three pitches."
The Chanticleers lost Saturday's Game 1 of the CWS Final 1-0 after LSU staring pitcher Kade Anderson threw a complete-game three-hitter with 10 strikeouts. The Tigers are hoping to earn their second CWS title in the last three years, and Schnall's ejection could make it easier for them to achieve their goal.
