Rachel DeMita Fired by BIG3 After Caitlin Clark Posts During BIG3 Game
The BIG3 fired courtside reporter Rachel DeMita after she posted about Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark on X while working a broadcast for the league.
DeMita confirmed the news Friday.
DeMita read a portion of an email she said she received from the league revealing her dismissal.
In essence, the email stated that the reasoning for her firing was DeMita posting about a competing basketball game (New York Liberty at Indiana Fever) occurring during the BIG3 broadcast, saying she should have "reasonably known" to only promote BIG3 matchups during that time. The email also said management was "completely taken aback to learn she was posting about another league's games while she was rendering services."
Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports broke the news earlier Friday and said, per sources, that the posting was the "final straw" leading to the parting of ways.
BIG3 opened its 2025 season on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET with a slate of four games happening consecutively. That was the same start time as Indiana's home game against the defending WNBA champion Liberty, which marked Clark's return after a five-game absence due to a left quad strain.
Clark had a fantastic game, posting 32 points, nine assists and eight rebounds in the 102-88 win. DeMita posted once about Clark and then re-posted two others during the BIG3 broadcast.
DeMita, a sports influencer and host of the Courtside Club by Rachel DeMita podcast, once played basketball for Old Dominion. She also served as host of NBA 2KTV. This was her second year with BIG3.
Clark notably turned down an offer of $5 million per year over two seasons from the BIG3, per rapper, producer actor and league founder Ice Cube on the Dan Patrick Show.
The contract would have also included a percentage of team ownership.
