It wasn't a bad effort from Bueckers, who didn't catch the plate but also threw it in the general vicinity of the catcher, which is better than some of the celebrity first-pitch efforts we've seen in the past.
Bueckers looks like the early leader for the WNBA's Rookie of the Year, averaging an impressive 17.7 points, 5.7 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game across nine contests, shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from three.
That hasn't translated to many wins, as the rebuilding Wings are just 2-11 on the season. But it's already abundantly clear that Bueckers is the real deal and a future superstar in the WNBA, and there will be no buyer's remorse in Dallas after making her the No. 1 overall selection at the 2025 draft.
The Rangers, meanwhile, could use a Bueckers of their own—the team is just 36-37 on the year and currently six games back of the Houston Astros in the AL West and 1.5 games back of the Boston Red Sox for the final Wild Card berth in the American League.
Since winning the World Series in 2023, the Rangers are just 114-121.
