Re-Drafting Every Team's Worst Draft Pick of the Century 😡
Last season, 30 teams held one or more joint practices during the preseason. The joint practices are typically held ahead of a preseason game, though the league doesn't allow joint practices the day before a preseason contest.
Joint practices are a good way for teams to get some head-to-head competition against players they're a bit unfamiliar with, serving as a good warmup to the regular season ahead.
The first preseason game will be the NFL Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, between the Los Angeles Chargers and Detroit Lions on July 31. After that, Week 1 of preseason begins on August 7. A full list of the preseason matchups can be found here, and the nationally televised games can be found here.
In joint practices, tensions can sometimes run high, which makes sense considering teams are facing other squads for the first time since the end of the previous season. Last year, there was a scrum between the New York Giants and Detroit Lions at a joint practice.
There was also a brawl at a joint practice between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Los Angeles Rams two years ago.
Teams will, of course, try to avoid those situations this year and keep the battles on the field.
