Red Sox Reportedly Fired Scout Who Called Craig Breslow 'F--king Stiff' on Zoom Call
Craig Breslow, who is the head of baseball operations for the Boston Red Sox, has been under the spotlight since the team traded slugger Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants, and he reportedly isn't the most popular person within the organization.
Buster Olney of ESPN reported Tuesday that longtime scout Carl Moesche was fired after he said Breslow was a "f---ing stiff" during a Zoom call when he was unaware his voice could be heard.
Notably, Olney wrote that "Moesche's view reflects that of other Red Sox employees" with others saying "Breslow's presence is wooden and ineffective."

Olney continued and wrote, that Breslow "needs to hear the feedback that is coming from all corners of the franchise: His interpersonal skills are poor. In his 1½ years with the Red Sox, Breslow has failed to build a relationship with the team's most important player.
"He has to talk more with others, connect more—because when he doesn't build those relationships, what festers in the vacuum of conversation is the sort of communication decline that developed with Devers."
It is interesting context to the Devers trade after Boston sent the star power hitter to the Giants for pitchers Jordan Hicks and Harrison, outfield prospect James Tibbs III, and relief pitcher Jose Bello.
While there is something to be said about the American League East team getting out of a 10-year, $313.5 million deal that may or may not age well in just the second season, the relationship between team and player was under the spotlight long before the trade.
After all, Devers resisted moving from third base following the Red Sox's acquisition of Alex Bregman and then declined to change positions yet again following a season-ending injury to first baseman Triston Casas.
Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reported the team believed Devers "did not live up to" the responsibilities of his contract, and ESPN's Jeff Passan reported on SportsCenter that the 28-year-old "was not the type of person that they wanted to keep around."
It seems as if the relationship between Devers and Breslow was less than ideal, and a Red Sox fanbase that still isn't happy with the organization's failure to keep Mookie Betts now has to watch another superstar play for a different team.
And, given the reported view of Breslow from some within the organization, the fans may not be the only ones upset.
